Circle Town/County Airport
Stelling Engineers is providing research, planning, and preliminary design necessary for the future development of the Circle Airport.
Planning
This process is incorporating an existing airport inventory, pilot’s survey, wind coverage analysis, aviation forecasts, development of facility requirements, and land use planning to be used to address concerns of State and Federal agencies and to plan for future aviation demands in a feasible manner.
Airport Layout Plan
The existing Circle Town/County Airport Layout Plan (ALP) is being updated concurrently with the generation of airport planning data. The update will reflect current airport facilities, current and future aviation requirements, and proposed airport improvements, and will be developed to current FAA standards.
Environmental
In preparation of the runway extension that is part of the recommended improvements for Circle Town/County Airport, an Environmental Checklist will be done. This document will evaluate the potential impacts of the runway extension and will include a cultural resource inventory of all airport property.
Design
The project is currently in the preliminary design stage for runway extension and reconstruction. These activities include site surveys, geotechnical investigations, borrow source investigations, pavement design, alternative development, approach options, hydrologic analysis, and preparation of preliminary plans and cost estimates.
Final design is scheduled for the fall/winter of 2005 with construction occurring during the summer of 2006.
