Taxiway "A"

The first phase of the Taxiway "A" rehabilitation project was completed in the fall of 2008. The taxiway had severely decomposed asphalt inadequate for aircraft traffic loading. The reconstructed Taxiway Safety
Areas (TSA) were graded to comply with FAA Standards. Taxiway edge drain piping and structures were installed along with a new section of storm drainage pipe and grade adjustment of existing structures. Existing taxiway edge lights were removed and replaced with new materials installed to conform to the updated geometric configuration and vertical grade changes. Taxiway centerline light cans, ducting, and cabling were also installed as part of the Surface Movement and Guidance Control System (SMGCS).

FedEx Air Cargo Facility

In 1999, Stelling Engineers, Inc., Washington Group International, and CTA Architects were selected by the Great Falls International Airport Authority to lead the design and construction contract administration of the new $14 million Fed Ex Air Cargo Facility.

SEI led the design and construction administration of $3 million in non-airside improvements for the new FedEx Air Cargo Facility. Design included 1.5 miles of 16-inch diameter water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, parking lots, access roads, storm water detention, lighting, landscaping, curb & gutter, pavement design, and site grading. Special features include a 3-acre feet lined storm water detention pond and 48-inch diameter storm sewer piping system to accommodate 20 acres of concrete apron.

Stelling Engineers, Inc. administered and completed the construction oversight of all utility extensions and site development.

The project was designed and completed in less than 1 year by the Stelling, CTA, Washington Group team.

Front Range Aviation

Complete design and construction for improvements to Front Range Aviation area included construction of a larger apron area and the construction of taxilanes in the vicinity of the Front Range Aviation facilities. To connect the expanded apron to existing Taxiway Alpha, existing ladder Taxiway N was widened, and a new ladder Taxiway M was constructed. Special features include over 56,000 cubic yards of excavation, security fence, storm drainage, airfield lighting, FBO hangar pads, parking lot, and striping and marking of vehicle parking lot, apron, and taxilanes

Also as part of this project, approximately 500 LF of sanitary sewer collection line for future use by hangars and Front Range Aviation was constructed. A service line was stubbed-out to the Front Range Aviation building and service wye's were installed and stubbed out in the vicinity of future hangars.

Holman Aviation

A new parking lot for Holman Aviation was constructed including Striping and marking vehicle parking lot.

Self Fueling Taxiway

The Self-Fueling Taxilane improvements near Holman Aviationincluded reconstruction of the existing 35' wide taxilane to the GeneralAviation (GA) Self-fueling Area and turnaround. The self fueling taxilane area (approximately 70' x 500') was constructed using a combination of concrete pavements and bituminous surface course, and was striped and marked.

Safety Access Road

Description: Design and Construction of approximately $300,000 in roadway improvements for a new paved maintenance road at the Airport. The project included half a mile of 24-foot wide roadway and 400 feet of 16-foot wide roadway. The new roadway links the Fed Ex Air Cargo facility and the MANG Arm Dis-Arm pad with the east side airport facilities. The work was completed in November, 2003.
