Airport Master Plan/Site Selection Study and Environmental Assessment
These studies were conducted for future improvements at the Lincoln Airport. Recommended development included the acquisition of 15 acres of land and included right-of-way plans for seven parcels. An Environmental Assessment was conducted for the proposed development at the existing site. A new partial-length parallel taxiway, fixed wing apron, and rotor wing apron is also being constructed.
Hangar Relocation
The relocation of six existing hangars is being undertaken due to the existing locations interfering with the proposed airport development. Coordination with hangar owners was conducted with new leases being developed and signed.
Special Use Permit
A Special Use Permit was required by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to meet the U. S. Department of Agriculture NEPA requirements allowing the Sponsor (MDT) to use USFS land for the operation of an airport. This work was conducted under a Memorandum of Understanding between the USFS and the Sponsor (MDT).
Airport Design, Land Acquisition, and Power Line Relocation
Acquisition of five (5) parcels of land for airport reconstruction, power line relocation along Highway 200, and design of new lighting system, taxiways, and runways.
Construction
The runway reconstruction recommended in the Master Plan included a 70-foot northwesterly shift of Runway 4-22 and the lengthening the runway from 4,000 feet to 4,240 feet to meet length requirements for 75 percent of small airplanes. A new partial-length parallel taxiway, fixed wing apron, and rotor wing apron will also be constructed. The project also includes a perimeter wildlife fence, runway lighting system, miscellaneous NAVAIDs, and the acquisition of additional land needed for development and protection of the runway approaches.
